Broken Peaces: Ireland, Israel and Bosnia
Bernadette Devlin McAliskey came to prominence in the late 1960s as a spokeswoman
for Catholic rights in Northern Ireland. She later served in the British
Parliament, representing Northern Ireland. In the past, she has been a supporter
of the Irish Republican Army (IRA).
County Tyrone, Northern Ireland - The large explosion
in London in February in which two people died, marked the end of an 18-month
ceasefire by the IRA (Irish Republican Army). They had run out of patience
with what is called the Peace Process, a process in which the British
are winning and the Republicans are losing.
