The Lesson of Bosnia: America Is the Key to Europe's Stability

Hans Dietrich Genscher was foreign minister of Germany from 1974 to 1992. His push to recognize Croatia in 1991 is said by many critics to have provoked the outbreak of war in the former Yugloslavia.

Bonn - If the Dayton Accords are implemented and complied with, they will bring and end to the most cruel military conflict in Europe since World War II. The accords are a victory for good political sense over military means as the way to solve conflicts. Above all, Bosnia's existence as a state within the borders recognized in 1992 has been guaranteed.
