The Lesson of Bosnia: America Is the Key to Europe's Stability
Hans Dietrich Genscher was foreign minister of Germany from 1974 to 1992.
His push to recognize Croatia in 1991 is said by many critics to have
provoked the outbreak of war in the former Yugloslavia.
Bonn - If the Dayton Accords are implemented
and complied with, they will bring and end to the most cruel military
conflict in Europe since World War II. The accords are a victory for good
political sense over military means as the way to solve conflicts. Above
all, Bosnia's existence as a state within the borders recognized in 1992
has been guaranteed.
