Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Russia's most well-known poet, is also an essayist
and filmmaker. His most recent book is Don't Die Before You're Dead (Random
House 1995) and his most recent film was Stalin's Funeral (1992).

In early March, an American official NATO called for hundreds of millions
of dollars in increased military spending in preparation for "the
new cold war." This was a great gift to our so-called Russian patriots,
who voted in the Duma to resurrect the old Soviet Union. They need a bogeyman
no less than their American twins.
