China: Between a Hard Line and the Hard Rock Cafe
In one of the more acid obituaries the appeared when Deng died, dissident
physical Fan Lizhi wrote that the Paramount leader who succeeded Mao had
indeed transformed China - from the rule of one man to the rule of corrupt
men. Now that Deng is gone, China may well be poised to take the next leap
forward from the rule of the corrupted men of the Communist Party to the
rule of law.
