One Country, One System in Hong Kong
Martin Lee is chairman of Hong Kong's Democratic Party - Hong Kong's largest
political party - and a democratically elected legislative councilor. He
served from 1981 to 1989 as a member of the Basic Law Drafting Committee,
the body appointed by Beijing to draft Hong Kong's post-1997 Constitution.
He sat down with NPQ editor Nathan Gardels to discuss
how the death of Deng Xiaoping and recent change in Chinese law might
affect Hong Kong after the Chinese takeover July 1.
