The New Global Security: A Common Defense Against the Microbe Hordes
Joshua Lederberg won the Nobel Prize in 1958 at age 33 for his pioneering
work on the genetic mutation of bacteria. He was formerly
president of The Rockefeller University in New York.
New York - A new strain
of viral flu that has mysteriously transmitted from chickens to humans
was reported in south China. Last year, a new strain of tuberculosis,
resistant to the usual antibiotics, was discovered in Africa. A Couple
of years back, the Ebola virus spread up the Congo river, and even to
Europe, before it was contained.
