Europe Needs a Push

Romani Prodi, the former Italian prime minister is the new president of the European Commission. What follows is adapted from his remarks to the founding meeting of the Council on European Responsibility held at Schloss Bellevue in Berlin earlier this year.

Berlin - If we don't get beyond the technocratic approach to Europe and the focus on sheer economic, we will fail. If the man on the street only thinks of Europe in the terms of the price of milk, Europe will be seen as some big cow and little more.
