The Climate Dice are Loaded
James Hansen, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies
in New York and adjunct professor of geological sciences at Columbia University,
is a leading authority on global warming.
New York - Yes, the world is getting warmer. This
warming is not blatantly obvious, because it is smaller than shorter-term
chaotic climate variations - the random atmospheric fluctuations that
also make weather patterns unpredictable for periods longer than several
days. But the warming is apparent is systems, such as mountain glaciers,
that respond sluggishly to climate change, thus damping our chaotic weather
fluctuations.
